I grew up visiting these markets every month. We'd save our pocket money for ages and then waste it on silly toys and sweets. Most markets, if Mum let us, me and my sister would get pillow puff pancakes; little puffs of batter goodness smothered in butter and icing sugar. They pretty much tasted like heaven. As an adult I have dealt with my addiction to fried dough, thankfully, and I appreciate market day for different reasons.
When I lived in Sydney (oh I miss it so badly!), Sunday hangovers meant glebe markets, Turkish gozlome and amazing coffee. Glebe markets are still my absolute favourite, but the Bellingen market day will always have a nostalgic place in my heart. I always leave feeling very inspired; hopefully these photos have the same effect on you.

(P.s I totalyl borrowed a DSLR for the day and LOVE the quality of the images! I cannot wait to buy mine in a months time.)
These markets look lovely! I wanted to grab one of those hats in the stall :D
ReplyDeleteThe Bellingen markets are a special event each month and you've captured their magic beautifully, maybe you should make it regular piece.

Looks like so much fun...we have similar ones in the Chicago suburbs, and I always look forward to them!
