Tunes// Happy New Year// See you 2011

So I am blatantly avoiding all uni work and trawling youtube. I couldn't resist popping by to say Happy New Year le'LOVERS. The end of 2011 has been excellent and I hope twenty twelve continues in the same vein.

P.s This song is making me oh so chipper right now, enjoy

Designer Friday// Daisy Doe// Erin Matthews

Daisy Doe

I have a thing for diet coke, youtube makeup videos, pretty dresses and good design of any kind. Whether it be clothing, graphic design, electronics or cute stuffed toys, if it looks good, if it appeals to all of my senses, I want it. I am usually so overwhelmed by all the nice things out there I can't pick the best from the bunch, but when it came to choosing the designer to feature for my second Designer Friday feature, it was easy. I have known this fabbo Australian designer for quite some time and seen her multi talents at work. She has taken photographs for rocking zines, made lovely little animations and always managed to impress me. Her most recent venture is cute as a button; an online store called Daisy Doe that you will not be able to resist. Erin was kind enough to spare some time to talk to me about her life of design and little Daisy Doe.

IFB Project #27// Share the love// Why bloggers rock

Since starting this site in late November I have experienced something truly amazing and special. Not only has it been an outlet for the creativity I have felt bursting from me for sometime just looking for a place to land, I have been blessed to call myself a part of a community.

Life// My Christmas// Owl vases and friends

This Christmas was really special for me. We had an amazing Christmas eve gathering with amazing people and lush food. Christmas day in my house was relaxed; ham and eggs cooked on the new barbecue, a lovely sit down lunch with my sister, Mum and step Dad and then a swim at a friends pool in the afternoon. I ate lovely mangos and crisp watermelon all day and felt very happy and lucky. We came home and watched a sad movie that made me weep and I slept like a baby.

Christmas// Wearing + Doing + Eating

So Christmas eve is tomorrow for us here in Australia, so I just wanted to share my Christmas plans. We always have such a relaxed Christmas day that usually involves a swim in the river or at the beach and maybe watching a film. This year we are having a little shindig the night before so I will be making an effort to look nice.

Designer Friday// We Heart Paper// Dominique Falla

Nope, these are not hundreds and thousands, nor some crazy fairy bread from a child's party; it is the brilliant and inspiring work of designer and typographer, Dominique Falla.

Black and Gold// Why I don't like photos of me

I really don't photograph well, but I guess I have to start somewhere right? This has been one of my favourite outfits lately. Simple black blazer and my bronze cotton dress. Perfect for a day of shopping.

Life// Before and After// My Place

I woke up one day and was overwhelmed by the space and clutter around me; I can't work in an unorganised space, and I am about to be very busy. So instead of having a little tantrum, I did something about it. Inspired by Frankie Magazine and their Spaces book I decided to work with what I have got and make my life flow a little better.

New Design// Why I can't make decisions

I have a severe inability to make decisions. This means I am constantly changing my mind in life, no matter the situation. Why should you care? Because this means that I have changed the design of my blog slightly and it is pretty much likely to be the first of many changes. So hang in there readers, le'LOVE will always be the same, no matter the skin she is in.

Obsessions// Going the Distance// Justin Long is a Babe

justin long is a babe

In my opinion every man should dress just like Justin Long's character in Going the Distance, Garrett, at all times. If you want to become a fellow heart throb, I'll get you started.

IFB Project #26// Best of 2011

Ok. So here is the deal. I only started this blog towards the end of November this year, and it might seem a little strange to post about the best of 2011 when for le'LOVE, 2011 has been very short indeed.

Obsessions// Going the Distance// Erin Rankin Langford

The first time I saw this film I laughed for a straight hour, it was that funny. And it has Justin Long, who I think is a complete babe. And the clothes are amazing .

Inspired// Gustav Klimt// The Kiss

Photobucket Gustav Klimt would have to be one of my favourite artists from the 20th Century and his iconic work "The Kiss" is complete bliss. The incredible use of light and colour to create depth and a sense of luxury always manages to capture my imagination. Plus it is shiny with flowers, and what more could we want?

When I see a painting in a gallery I always, ALWAYS, want to reach out and touch it. Sadly, this is mostly not allowed.

Today's Inspired post brings this lovely painting into the real world. Don't be surprised if, when you wear this outfit, random strangers come up and stroke you. It is an unavoidable side effect.

12 Days of DIY Christmas// Day Eleven// Rag Scarf

12 days of christmas

I love giving gifts. It is simply one of the most fun things in the world. Giving a gift that you made is also extra special, but at the same time it can be a little daunting. What if they don't like it? Hopefully if you make todays DIY gift and give it to the right person they love and appreciate your handmade gift.

12 days of DIY Christmas// Day Ten// Braid Up

Sometimes I feel like I am a hairdresser.

12 Days of DIY Christmas// Day 9// Cork-board continued

Photobucket Wow. The past two weeks have been so busy. I think it has all finally caught up with me and today I have fallen in a heap, hence the brevity of this post.

Despite my lack of actual written words today I do hope you still enjoy this little tid-bit.

So I mentioned yesterday that I had something lovely planned for the frame of my cork board. Well here it is...

12 Days of Christmas// Day Eight// Cork-board into gift

Photobucket Today I wanted to show you how to take an old unused item like a simple cork board, and turn it into 2 lovely Christmas gifts. I love the idea of using things lying around my house, sprucing them up with a bit bits and bobs and gifting them.

12 Days of DIY Christmas// Day Seven//Waterfall Braid

12 days of diy christmas waterfall braid

I think this is one of the loveliest and easiest braids. It is a perfect style for a relaxed festive event, paired with simple tailored clothes and some dramatic pendant earrings. This tutorial is shown in dark hair but for all those blondies out there this is a great way to show off highlights.

12 days of DIY Christmas// Day six// Paper Snowflake

Here in Australia we don't see much snow and I for one have never had a white Christmas. I do rather like the idea of frolicking in the snow, but I have heard that it can be awful cold and wet.

12 Days of DIY Christmas // Day five // Christmas Hair # one

I have a confession. You will be shocked.

12 Days of DIY Christmas: Day four- DIY Round-up

day four.

So it is Saturday. And I am tired. And it is raining. So instead of making lovely things to share with you I am going to clean the house. Don't despair though, I won't leave you hanging.

12 Days of DIY Christmas: day three.

I have been so overwhelmed by the amazing response to this blog and want to say thank you for taking the time to visit as so many of you have.

Today I wanted to share with you another DIY decoration idea that I currently have hanging on my front door and love it- a rag wreath.

12 Days of DIY Christmas: Day two.

Todays DIY Christmas idea wins over every gaudy metallic bauble and silver shedding tinsel that ever decorated a Christmas tree. It is that good (and that easy).

12 days of DIY Christmas: Day one.

So technically christmas is more than 12 days away but you if you want to try any of my fan-dangled do it yourself gift ideas you might need some extra time up your sleeve. Plus the decoration ideas can come into play immediately to make your home festive and the like.

Call for submissions...

So it might seem that le'LOVE is all about design and pretty things, but that is not so. Once christmas is done and dusted and we have all recovered, this blog will run a series called 'How does it work?'

I need experts in all different fields to explain a complex concept in simple terms so that we can all learn about it. I am talking basics like a car engine, the economy and time travel. You know, everyday things.

If you know a lot (or a little) about something fascinating or important that you think we need to learn about, drop me a line via the comments and we can work out how to share your genius with the le'LOVE world.

Handmade Holiday.

So. I have made a pact with myself and the universe. This Christmas I will not buy presents or decorations. I will make them instead. Sounds easy right? WRONG.
